Hi,

My name is Katie Schmunk. I am the owner and teacher at The Children's Playhouse. Our doors first opened in 2005 shortly after I got married while attending Aims. I attended Aims Community College and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education with the goal of opening my own business. Mission accomplished! 18 years later and I still love my job.

I pride myself on providing high quality individualized care for each child in attendance.  I value open communication and honesty. And believe that children learn through play and positive interactions. 

 

I remain happily married to the man of my dreams and we have three wonderful children. My husband Rick or better known to the childcare children "Uncle Rick" is my greatest supporter even when farming is occupying his time.  Our oldest two are both in high school and our youngest is finishing out her elementary years.

When I'm not busy teaching I love to read, spend time at the farm with Rick and our kids, or sit in the hot tub. I also enjoy a good cup of hot chocolate or trying new flavors of ice cream, my favorite is cookies and cream.
